Dr. Marissa WechslerFaculty Advisor
Dr. Marissa Wechsler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Chemical Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). She received her B.S. from UTSA and M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees, as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to joining UTSA as a faculty member, she completed postdoctoral research training at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her research focuses on the use of engineered polymeric systems for biomarker detection, drug delivery, and the design of complex biological microenvironments with applications in nanotechnology, biosensing, and tissue engineering. Dr. Wechsler is an active member in the Biomedical Engineering Society, Society For Biomaterials, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society, American Chemical Society, and the Society of Women Engineers.

Kilsy RamosPresident
Kilsy Ramos is a UTSA senior expected to graduate in the spring of 2023 with a BS in biomedical engineering and a minor in business administration. On-campus Kilsy works as a Senior Peer Mentor for the First-Year Experience program where she assists in providing first-year students with UTSA resources that will help them be successful in their courses and get involved on campus. After graduation, Kilsy would like to be able to continue to expand her horizons of biomedical engineering by working in the industry and helping better the field of medicine and technology for the future. In addition, she would like to be able to travel the world when given the opportunity.

Diana Herrera-DíazVice President
Diana Herrera-Díaz is a Junior Biomedical Engineer Undergraduate student with a concentration in Biomaterials, Tissue, and Cellular Engineering and she is the 2022-2023 Vice President. She currently works at Dr. Wechsler’s biomaterials lab and is a Klesse College of Engineering Student Ambassador. In her free time she enjoys baking, watching movies, and traveling around the world. This year she hopes to get SWE’s members more involved by providing SWE exclusive opportunities including SWE's WE22, industry events, celebrations, and many more exciting things. After graduation she plans to attend graduate school and continue researching in the biomaterials area.

Muskanben VahoraSecretary
Muskanben Vahora is an incoming senior at UTSA majoring in Computer Engineering and expects to graduate fall 2023. As secretary, she hopes to increase student involvement in SWE and encourage women to pursue a career in the STEM field. Also fun fact, her name means smile!

Stephany ArriolaFundraising Officer
Stephany is a chemical engineering student at UTSA. She was born and raised in Guatemala and moved to the United States at the age of 18. She has a beautiful english bull dog named Bubba. She also loves to stargaze after a long day, especially with a froyo in her right hand. Stephany always leaves the door open for adventures and is excited to help others with her chemical engineering background.

Abhinaya (Abhi) LakkureddiFundraising Chair
Abhinaya Lakkureddi is a freshman studying to become a biomedical engineer. She is the newest officer to the officer team and is very excited to begin her fundraising officer position. This semester she would like to make an impact on the organization by collaborating with the rest of the team and bring more awareness to the UTSA SWE chapter and its message. In Abhinaya's free time she enjoys reading, drawing, and listening to music.

Alexandra OronaMentorship Officer
Alexandra Orona is a senior studying civil engineering with a minor in geology. And is expected to graduate in spring 2023. She enjoys spending most of her time with friends and family. Alexandra also enjoys learning and teaching latin dance. Her goal for SWE is to continue growing and building the mentorship program.

Nathaly AmayaPublic Relations Officer
This is Nathaly Amaya and she is currently a junior in chemical engineering. This year she hopes to reach new people through our UTSA chapter of SWE through our social media. She would love to have more members so we can continue to spread our SWE values and achieve our mission. Nathaly has always been a fan of having a creative outlet and managing the social media gets her creativity flowing in how she wants to keep presenting our updates and information in new and exciting ways. She can't wait to see what we come up with this year!
